FORT WORTH, Texas, August 22, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Tracy has ridden her bicycle across six states and completed over 2,500 miles as she rides from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Brooklyn Bridge. Along the way, she is spreading hope and inspiration to thousands of people.
How do you live with diabetes for 40 years? The same way you bicycle across the country, one day at a time.
Tracy lives to inspire those who are also living with diabetes. While crossing the country on her bicycle she has made many new friends and continues to spread hope to children with Type 1 diabetes and their parents. Throughout this country, Tracy has had the opportunity to meet many people and offer them hope and encouragement.
Each state brings new challenges:
Six punctured tubes, three ruined tires, one gear shift malfunction, inches from semi-trucks, record temperatures, rain, a solar eclipse and failed GPS directions leading her to the wilderness forcing her to carry her bike for seven miles. Nothing will stop this grandmother from reaching her goal in New York City.
She left the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on June 13, 2017 and is expected to reach New York City's Brooklyn Bridge in mid-September. Tracy is riding her bicycle over 3,500 miles to provide hope and spread awareness about diabetes. Raising funds to help children with Type 1 diabetes is now the focus of the ride. There are many children who desperately need the most up-to-date medical technology that will save their lives. Tracy’s mission is to help people understand that diabetes does not have to rule their life and no matter what health issues someone might be living with, don’t lose hope. She hasn’t done it alone; she needs your support and prayers.
At age 17, Tracy learned how to give herself shots after being diagnosed with juvenile diabetes (Type 1). While in the hospital, Tracy was told by all the medical experts she would die within 20 years, suffer with horrible complications, and she would never be able to have children. Tracy has two children, is a grandmother, and has no complications.
